smartzoneCork company Accuflow have announced a €1m investment with the creation of 30 new jobs.

Accuflow is a global manufacturer of wireless technology and hopes to transform home energy bills through a new home heating controls product called Smartzone which they say will save consumers an average of €300 a year.

The Togher based company, which has offices in Britain, Italy and China, is planning a major three year global expansion which will increase its workforce from ten to 40 people on foot of this major investment.

These 30 new jobs will be filled across sales, administration, marketing, computer programming and software development roles.

The company said that for once-off installation cost of only €199  Smartzone will enable consumers to manage their heating, both upstairs and downstairs independently, and hot water at the touch of a button from any smartphone, tablet or PC.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney attended the launch of Smartzone. “This is a fantastic announcement, not just for Cork, but for the entire country as it will create employment and save money for households. Ireland’s economy is improving because of innovative companies like Accuflow who are identifying opportunities for growth in key areas such as wireless home technology,” he said.
Speaking about the investment Accuflow founder Justin Mc Inerney said: “Up until now smart home technology was limited to a very niche audience, mostly trade – but at Accuflow, we want to transform the home heating and water market by making it easy and affordable for everyone to see this incredible connectivity technology at work.”

“Even though we have an international goal to make our marquee product Smartzone a global success, we’re proud of our Cork roots and are collaborating with the Nimbus Centre at Cork Institute of Technology and Ireland’s dedicated “Internet of Things” (IOT) research centre.”
