AIM Centre welcomes David Bermingham as Director of AI to lead National AI Studio
Advancing Innovation in Manufacturing (AIM) Centre has announced the appointment of David Bermingham (pictured) as its new Director of AI. David will spearhead the launch and expansion of the AIM Centre’s National AI Studio, a pioneering initiative designed to drive AI adoption and innovation within Ireland’s manufacturing sector. David brings a wealth of experience in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and industrial automation. His leadership will be instrumental in shaping the vision and strategy of the AI Studio, ensuring it delivers cutting-edge AI solutions tailored to the needs of manufacturing SMEs.

The National AI Studio at AIM is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Northern and Western Regional Programme 2021-27. A first-of-its-kind initiative in Ireland, the studio aims to bridge the gap between emerging AI technologies and real-world industrial applications. Under David’s leadership, the Studio will focus on research and development, industry collaboration, and hands-on AI adoption programmes, ensuring that businesses across Ireland can benefit from the latest advancements in artificial intelligence. The Studio will provide AI Demonstrations to showcase practical applications of AI in manufacturing, launch an AI Accelerator Programme to support SMEs in integrating AI into their operations, and introduce a Travelling AI Studio to bring AI expertise directly to businesses across the country.

As Director of AI, David will oversee the delivery of AI demonstration projects, and drive engagement with SMEs, academic institutions, and industry partners. His role will be critical in ensuring that the AI Studio provides practical, scalable AI solutions that address the unique challenges of the manufacturing sector.
