GEA Process Engineering will be attending the POWTECH tradeshow in Nuremburg, Germany from 30 September – 2 October to promote the latest technology and techniques in spray drying. Spray drying has become increasingly attractive to the food, pharma and chemical industries because of its flexibility and controllability that allows for production of powders with specific advanced properties like dissolvability, flow properties and bulk density.

One of the highlights at POWTECH will be GEA Niro DRYCONTROL™: GEAs novel Advanced Process Control system for large dairy spray drying plants. It is a system that uses real-time input to the control system – provided by specifically developed sensors – combined with Model Predictive Control (MPC) technology and a mathematical model building on GEA’s vast spray drying process knowledge to adjust the drying process precisely to the desired moisture content in the final product. The system allows for an unsurpassed process control and optimization and has proven to increase capacity utilization, improve yield and reduce variation in moisture content while saving energy. Recent experience has shown that the GEA Niro DRYCONTROL™ system has the ability to increase the processing capacity of an existing installation by 3-5%.

Also on the show will be a GEA Niro MOBILE MINOR™ Spray Dryer. This lab-scale spray dryer has a unique reputation as the perfect choice to explore the possibilities of spray drying and produce powder samples in small volumes. It is found in R&D departments by many of the leading manufacturers, independent research institutes and universities worldwide.

GEA Process Engineering technical staff will be on the stand (Hall 6/6-229) to discuss drying solutions and the product features and benefits that can be obtained using the company’s drying technologies.

CAPTION:

GEA’s novel Advanced Process Control system GEA Niro DRYCONTROL™ allows producers of dairy powders to gain an additional 3-5% capacity.
