The event which celebrates the best of manufacturing and the people behind the products, takes place in the Citywest Hotel, Dublin, on the 5th of September, hosted by Vincent Wall from Newstalk.

A total of 245 entries have been received across 15 categories for this year’s glittering event which promises to be a night to remember. Some of the categories this year include Health and Wellness Product of the Year, Food & Drink Innovation(sponsored by Henderson Food Machinery) and Food Safety & Quality(sponsored by EIQA). Among the finalists are:

  • Dairygold Food Ingredients

  • Marks & Spencer

  • The Dingle Whiskey Distillery

  • Keoghs Crisps

  • B Free foods.

Those in attendance will be treated to a networking drinks reception followed by a tasteful custom designed meal by Michelin starred Chef Ciaran Cunningham. The prominence of own brand goods at this year’s event demonstrates the shift in consumers attitudes towards shop label produce. It also shows own brands are now being used as a key differentiator in Irish supermarkets. Recent statistics from Kantar Worldpanel reveal that despite an increase in spending on brands, private label items at low-cost retailers Aldi and Lidl still account for over 90% of sales.

The Food & Drink Business Awards celebrate the best of manufacturing and people behind the products.

Speaking about the awards John Whelan, International Trade Consultant, Former CEO, Irish Exporters Association, Chairman said: “I’m extremely impressed by the strength of entries for this year’s event and everyone in my opinion who enters the awards is already a winner. Irish food produce continues to go from strength to strength and the Food & Drink Awards is about recognising those successes.”

Tracey Carney, Organiser of the Food & Drink Business Awards, said: “ Innovation is key to driving growth and offering consumer value within the food sector in Ireland. These awards are unique in that they recognise the key industry players who are working hard at driving food production and manufacturing. The Food & Drink Business Awards recognise the most talented producers in the industry in Ireland.”
